So we’ve all been there. You’re in the car driving somewhere, whether it’s somewhere local to collect something from Facebook Marketplace (me all the time) or a journey 100 miles away. The sat nav in the car never cuts it quite like the Waze app.
Waze provides the best route, in the quickest time with the least traffic. It’s truly awesome. However, no fault of Waze, typing postcodes in usually requires switching screens between your browser and Waze typing in the various letters and numbers.
Most people cannot remember a postcode the first time they hear it, and will remember parts. Just like with phone numbers, where we remember the first 2 or 3 digits and then the last 2 or3 digits. This is how most humans recall information.
So, you’re in the car and about to drive to a leisure destination, and you visit the website which very kindly shares the business’s postcode, which you then have to TYPE in to your sat nav.
You begin typing the first 2 digits, switch screens to get the next few, and type the remaining digits. The you’re done.
Yes, admittedly this is not that time intensive, but what if you could make it easier and faster for people?
Where you showcase your sat nav postcode for your users to discover, try introducing the COPY icon (and an instruction) and allow users to click the postcode to add it to their clipboard, and paste it directly into Waze or other mobile Sat nav apps.
This is probably one of the smallest of actions you could take on your website and though the impact won’t necessarily be huge, it will be something that people will truly appreciate, and it’s goes a small way towards making your entire customer experience better.
If you have an attraction business or physical premises that people travel to, explore the option of adding a single click copy to any of your addresses listed on your website.
If you want people to visit you easier, they might start at your website, but they may use other tools and apps to actually find you.
This feature might limit distractions or prevent errors being made in the typing process. Most people will find you even if they get lost, but their attitude and general happiness might be different when they arrive.
