With charity donations down for various reasons, here’s a great way to do some digital fundraising this Christmas.
Over the past few years, charities have taken a big hit. With the pandemic and then consumers feeling the rise in the cost of living, donations are not what they once were.
However it’s not simply the drop in donations that has had an impact, but the way in which donations are raised.
There are fewer physical events and fundraisers to help with fundraising. On top of that, with more companies continuing to work remotely now, there are fewer opportunities to rally the staff together for fundraisers.
This week is more of a platform plug than it is for something specific to implement on your website (and I am in no way affiliated with or being paid to plug).
VisuFund is a digital donation platform that processes funds for charities and causes (I am not versed on fees or details) but this appears to be unlike typical funding providers.
Choose a theme/template, for example, a Christmas tree. Then divide up your financial target into smaller pieces to allow people to sponsor the campaign.
A local charity whom Impact has supported in the past, actually sent this campaign to us, which caught my attention. You can sponsor a bauble here.
The star at the top of the tree, the baubles, and the presents to go below the tree can all be sponsored. This is a great opportunity for a business to place their logo and a message to promote themselves to others businesses who are sponsoring, and those who drop by the page. See the example below.
I wanted to share this in the run-up to Christmas, as some marketers might be considering running charity fundraisers. Whether it’s for Christmas Jumper Day, or raising money for a favourite chosen charity.
This platform can provide a fun and engaging way to achieve fundraising goals. Sending out a campaign to encourage sponsorship of a tree decoration is very straightforward. They even have templates for those climbing mountains or running marathons, so they have options that work all year around.
For those who want to participate in Christmas Jumper Day but are in remote working teams, you can get people to sponsor a bauble and upload a photo of themselves in their jumper. Engage internal team members, and use social media and email to engage your customers too. All with a visual and accountable destination for others to follow the progress or get involved.
I know this time of year is a busy one for marketing teams, so by sharing a campaign idea like this I hope you find it useful and it can be banked for either this Christmas or a future charity campaign.
Here is the link to VisuFund again.
Also, if you’d like to support St Luke’s Hospice in Essex, you can sponsor a bauble on their tree here.
That’s a wrap for Swipe & Deploy #17. Join me next week when I’ll share another insight or piece of inspiration from around the web.
