Chief Impacter James has volunteered by his own free will to partake in a charity fundraising event, to which I don’t think he really knew what he was getting himself into.
On July 1st, James and 3 of his friends will be taking on the Pedal, Paddle and Peak 2023 Challenge.
You can learn more about this here.
Ultimately, there’s a few stages to the challenge, that involve cycling, climbing a mountain and hopping in a canoe. Which with the beautiful surroundings being that the event takes place in the Peak District, sounds exciting, however the word ‘challenge’ really should have been the give-away.
Starting in Penrith, the team will take on a 30-mile cycle which will be split into two stages of about 15 miles sandwiched between a 2 mile canoe journey and a hike up Helvellyn Mountain – the second largest peak in England.
After the initial 15 mile cycle, the team jump into a canoe and paddle across Ullswater Lake for 2 miles, before getting back on the bikes for a steep climb at the foot of the mountain.
The climax is climbing up Helvellyn Mountain, getting to the top… and then coming down again. Only to get the bottom, get back on the bikes – and pedal the 15 mile distance back to Penrith.
James has admitted that he is not a keen cyclist, and when out doing some initial training was left fairly in the distance from his team mates, so there’s a good chance he will be certainly slowing them down.
Plus he has already been complaining about saddle bum aches, and they’ve only cycled for around 15 miles in practising so far.
So, to cushion the blow, we’re asking friends, clients and partners of the Impacters to donate whatever they can for this great cause, this will give him the motivation to get back on the saddle and get in some more miles.
If you’d like to donate, please do so on the link below.
If you’d like to learn more about the challenge, or in fact get involved yourself check out the website for more info or the video below.
I’m sure James will update everyone with some nice photos too.
