With over 65 accessibility focused improvements, WordPress 6.8 continues its commitment to inclusivity. Enhancements span improved focus states, screen reader support, semantic markup, and colour contrast refinements, all aimed at making the platform more usable for everyone.
WordPress 6.8 introduces several enhancements to the Block Editor, making content creation smoother than ever. Expect better drag-and-drop controls, improved keyboard navigation, and enhanced design tools like border controls, background image options, and layout settings across more blocks.
Patterns also just got more powerful. With Pattern Overrides, you can define reusable patterns that allow individual instances to have unique content.
One of the most exciting updates is the early implementation of the Block Bindings API. This is a major step toward Phase 3 of the Gutenberg roadmap: real-time collaboration and dynamic content.
Developers can now bind dynamic data (like custom fields or post meta) directly to blocks.
