Automation Logic approached Impact Media, after realising their existing support and maintenance partner could no longer meet their needs, or help them achieve their ambitious vision.
They were also using a popular third party hosting service, which was hampering their website’s performance. It was only scoring an F in tests with GTMetrix.
Challenge & Objectives
Automation Logic came to Impact Media for WordPress Support having parted ways with their previous agency, who could no longer provide the level of service required.
Before moving to us, they had very little creative control over their website and found it took a long time for requests to be implemented. They found that maintenance was not proactive, and it was hard to speak to anyone when they needed urgent support.
The team at Automation Logic are ambitious, and always looking for ways to grow their business. They had a big list of things they wanted to evolve on their website, but the agency couldn’t respond or implement things quickly enough for their needs.
Another issue they were experiencing was with website performance. This was in part due to a hosting package with a popular third party hosting platform that wasn’t suitable for their business.
This former hosting package was very barebones:
- They had no CDN
- No 3rd party firewall
- Had no backup facility
Performance wise their website scored an F 36% in GTMetrix.
They needed a partner who could provide UX, design and development expertise, whilst being trusted to deliver on proactive support, maintenance, and quality WordPress optimised managed hosting.
Solution
WordPress Health Check
Our initial step was to conduct a WordPress Health Check audit, to get a deeper understanding of how the site was built, and what their existing hosting environment included or lacked.
This extensive audit allowed us to create a list of recommendations and prioritise activity, starting with areas that had the greatest impact on security and performance.
Migrating To Impact’s Managed Hosting
We migrated them to our hosting environment, and with our faster infrastructure they saw immediate performance improvements before any additional work was carried out.
As part and parcel of our Support & Hosting plan we:
- Included a backup facility as a matter of urgency
- Added a transactional email service
- Introduced website caching
With this migration alone, their website scored a B 86% in GTMetrix for performance, and we look to improve this further as we begin to evolve their website with design and development tasks, with an Evolve plan in place.
