Later in 2020, Bakels carried out an internal rebranding exercise, which refreshed their branding guidelines. This included new fonts, secondary colours, icons, and a signature shape. They approached us to roll this new branding out to their suite of websites, using their Evolve plan hours.
A Brand Refresh Without Full Redesign
Rather than a complete redesign after such a short time, we carried out an audit, to see how we could implement the new branding components across their 25 websites, without full scale redesign and development. This audit was important to identify how changes would be managed across the multisite network, which pages would require any redesign, and how elements like the new fonts would work with the multilingual nature of the websites.
With this audit completed, we created visuals for the client to see how certain key pages would look, particularly pages set to change the most. For example, the homepages underwent more extensive redesign, as the client wanted to integrate a hero image slider, and a new values section.
Updating 25 Websites
Once sign-off was achieved, we were able to move on to development for the branding changes. This included updating all 25 sites with the new hero slider incorporating their new signature shape, and new colours representing different areas of the business.
Also updated were the new values area for their home pages, their new font, colour bars, use of their signature shape and colours across their suite of sites, along with new CTAs and icons. The sites existing in a multisite network made this task less time intensive, than 25 disparate sites would have been.
As always, we ensured that any changes which would involve management by the Bakels team, were created with ease of use in mind, and training videos were supplied for introducing the changes to their team.
Visual and Browser Testing
Before launch, we carried out visual and browser testing, to thoroughly check all changes and additions were functioning as expected.
The update was then rolled out across their multisite network, in early 2021.
