An industry source has commented that it makes sense why so many people are shopping online in the UK, after a new report showed that UK customers accounted for almost a third of internet sales in 2009.

'No Surprise' that UK Online Spend is up Kelkoo commissioned the study, which was carried out by the Centre for Retail Research and found that £38 billion was spent by British shoppers during the time period – a statistic that could encourage users of SEO services.

Bruce Fair, managing director of online shopping at Kelkoo, claimed that it was "no surprise" to him to see such results, since the country went through a difficult economic climate and savings of 20 per cent or more can be made online, as opposed to the high street.

He added: "This year is when we will really start to see online sales achieving a significant share of overall retail trade in the UK."

A recent report carried out by 33 Digital suggested that digital advertising in 2010 could be affected by the rise of real-time search, according to Net Imperative.

Interesting statistics, I’ve recently just become familiar with online shopping. I’ve tried sites like U Shop http://www.ubiqueapps.com/ushop which I think is much easier to do than go out in real shops. Plus also the cold is forcing an increase as I can’t imagine many people would want to go out in this weather
