Marketing professionals may be interested to know that social media brands Facebook and MySpace are looking to expand their mobile service in very different ways.

Facebook, MySpace Expansions May Offer Marketing Opportunities MySpace announced at Google’s I/O conference that it was to offer software for Android users to access accounts via an app.

What may interest marketing managers, including those who use professional SEO services, is its intention to increase the number of people visiting the social media network via phone from 30 per cent to 50 per cent in the near future.

According to Marketing Pilgrim, Facebook is also aiming to diversify its mobile content, but is focusing on developing text-only content for those whose handsets have limited bandwidth.

Meanwhile, the forthcoming FIFA World Cup could see online marketers in strong competition to catch the eye of users on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace, as they look to capitalise on the popularity of the competition, Equi Media reports.

The tournament kicks off on June 12th.
