An industry commentator has said that it is not clear how Google’s five-click cap will affect paid search strategies.

'Not Clear' How Five-Click Cap Will Affect Search In his SearchBlog for MediaPost, Laurie Sullivan made his comments after Google announced plans to introduce a five-click daily limit for paid content online.

He pointed out that it is too early to tell how the move will affect pay per click management services, but it is clear that it will take its toll on banner ads on those sites, since people may decide not to sign up and pay money to view content.

Chris Paradysz, chief executive officer of PM Digital, told Mr Sullivan that the move is a disruption in the way the internet has been evolving.

He was quoted as saying: "Rather than the consumer driving the relationship, the publishers are attempting to take control and make moves to put value on the content."

EWeek Microsoft Watch writer Nicholas Kolakowski suggested that a partnership between media empire News Corp and Microsoft could be one way in which Google’s search domination could be challenged.
