An industry expert has suggested that companies will fall behind their competitors if they do not adopt techniques to optimise their websites for the real-time search function rolled out by Google recently.

Adapting to Real-Time Search 'Necessary to Survive' Chief executive officer at Tamar Tanya Goodin claimed that businesses will need to keep on top of what consumers are saying about their brand on social networking sites, since their opinions will appear on results pages, reports UTalkMarketing.

She noted that professional SEO services will be needed for ensuring that a company is visible on search engine results pages, but there will be added challenges since rival firms will no doubt exploit the new technologies involved.

Ms Goodin told the website: "Google has increased their ability to source and deliver instantaneous results without losing their ability to produce quality and relevance that we have come to expect."

This week, Sam Tilston from Zoombits.co.uk suggested that companies could benefit from signing up for an account at social networking sites and other content producers that appear on search results pages.
