While the high street has struggled this year, online retail is finding more and more customers browsing for products, an expert has asserted.

2009 Has Been 'a Positive Year for Online Marketing' Managing director of LinkShare UK Liane Dietrich claimed that since an increasing number of consumers have appeared online during 2009, providers of SEO marketing services have not been far behind, reports UTalkMarketing.

She noted that people are no longer just looking for the right product – they want it at the right price too.

In her view, this has a lot to do with the recession, since even those who are not in financial trouble are "tightening their belts".

Ms Dietrich told the news provider: "Marketers too need to make sure that they are spending their money in the most effective fashion to get the best return on investment."

This week, Google stated that internet users want more from the web than ever, which is why it feels that the speed and efficiency of search engines has to keep on improving.
